Love Is...

Can you believe it is already February 14? Wasn't it just Christmas Day? Well, believe it or not, it IS February 14, and it is Valentine's Day...a day for romance and a day for lovers. Valentine's Day is a day for the exchange of tokens of affection, and a day to dream of that special someone who may, or may not, be a part of your life.

Since today is Valentine's Day...I thought I would share some tidbits with you about this special, romantic day:
  • Some people used to believe that if a woman saw a robin flying overhead on Valentine's Day, it meant she would marry a sailor. If she saw a sparrow, she would marry a poor man and be very happy. If she saw a goldfinch, she would marry a millionaire.
  • Valentine's Day is the second largest day for giving greeting cards. (Christmas is the largest.)
  • According to English tradition, the first man a woman sees on Valentine's Day is the man she will marry.
  • Some people said if you found a glove on the road on Valentine's Day, your future beloved will have the other missing glove.
  • Teachers receive the most Valentine's Day cards.
  • In Wales, wooden love spoons were carved and given as gifts on February 14th. Hearts, keys and keyholes were favorite decorations on the spoons. The decoration meant, "You unlock my heart!"

Here are some fun websites to enjoy on this Valentine's Day:

With this said, this Valentine's Night I have to work...so, the romance is going to be rather quick in our home! However, we always have the weekend! *grin*

Happy Valentine's Day to my friends and family!
