Books! Books! and more Books!
What can I say?...I absolutely LOVE books! But..the books I enjoy reading aren't romance novels or thrillers...rather non-fiction books.
A couple of weeks ago, I received some coupons in the mail to be used last week from my FAVORITE bookstore, Half Price Books. The coupons, ranging from 10% off to 50% off of one book in the store, were to be used on its dedicated coupon day. If I had the time and money...I would have gone there all seven days and used ALL of the coupons! Sadly, however..I do have a life, so I was only able to visit twice last week.
Each time I walk into that store, I am like a little kid in a toy store. My breath is taken away as I open the door and smell the scent of used books. The colors, the sounds, the ambience get me every time! Surely...heaven is going to be THIS good! Last week was no different...I walked into that bookstore and felt such excitement!
I went alone on my first trip. I grabbed a basket and roamed up and down the aisles. I scoured the shelves looking for books in my interests, and interests I thought MAYBE I would enjoy. I added book after book into my basket...books about SUVs, books about painting, books I thought my husband and daughter would enjoy, and even a book about Creativity Mind Mapping. Before I knew it, I had about 20 books in my basket! But...the 40% Off coupon I was to use that day was good for only ONE book! What's a girl to do? They saw me coming when they sent me these coupons, that's for sure! OH...the temptations!
I walked over to the lounging area, grabbed my water bottle, and sat and dug deeper into the books. Which ones would I be taking home with me? After a good hour of reading and contemplating, I decided there was NO way I could buy just ONE book! So, instead...I came home with a cookbook I can use to make diabetic desserts (transformed to vegan, of course) for my husband, "Easy Diabetic 4 Ingredients" by Sally Hunt, a suspense novel for my daughter, "The Vein of Gold" by Julia Cameron, "Adobe Photoshop Managing Color Guide," and six issues of "Photoshop User"...four of which were only $1 per issue! AMAZING, since they cost $10 each! :)
Then, on Sunday, my husband and I visited again to spend the 50% off coupon. I can't pass up a good deal! After spending several hours there...we picked up even more goodies! I got a cartooning guide to share with my students, my husband picked out "The Book of Inventions" by Ian Harrison, and I got a paper crafting book. However...the most interesting find was a DVD game called, "Shout About Movies." I can't wait to play!
Now I have a dilemma. Where am I going to put ALL of these books? I think I need to adopt a new rule in this house...when a new book comes in...an old one goes out! But, it may take me awhile to figure out which of my treasures I need to vote off the island! The sanity!

You can't get rid of books! ...that would be just wrong.
Loved this post! I love books, too! Guess that's why I own a bookstore! LOL
I volunteer to be Exile Island!*LOL*
Hehehe!! What's a girl to do!!...
Exile Island...eh? LOL!!
It's one of our favorite places, too! We go there on date nights - one year, our oldest dd asked to go there on her birthday, as part of her birthday festivities!
Just Saturday, I came home with 4 books and 7 CDs, one of which was for our oldest. Dh also managed to find a book he wanted.
I am assuming that you have the teacher's discount card, right? Because that extra 10% off sure helps between those coupons!

Hey Kim! Yes...I have the teacher's discount card! :) LOVE that 10% off! They are much more teacher friendly than Barnes & Noble...they don't like college instructors.
