My Top Ten "At the Moment" Pet Peeves
I like to consider myself an easy-going person. A gal that goes with the flow, and doesn't let life bother me. As I get older, however, I am noticing the opposite! People seem to push my buttons more and more...offering an opportunity for my easy-going personality to fly right out the window.
Here is a list of my top ten pet peeves (at the moment)...those "little things" that bother me BIG time:
- Shopping Carts. Put them away people! The other day we had high winds...and, those shopping carts rolling and bumping throughout the parking lot were a safety hazzard. Not to mention, I have a new car...and, I don't want my new baby to have any bumps or bruises
- Speeding Through School Zones. There is a reason that HUGE sign has BRIGHT flashing lights...slow down! They were even kind enough to tell us the speed we are to be driving! My favorites are the parents that are going to the school in which the school zone is flashing. HELLO!
- Inconsiderate Folks in the Grocery Store. Have you ever walked down the aisle and noticed a package of meat abandoned on a shelf? I bet that is going to smell pretty good in the morning! How about those little plastic cups that were given out with samples from the nice, elderly ladies adding to their social security income? Simple. Throw it away when you're done!
- Simple Hygiene. I get so disgusted when people leave a stall in a public restroom and then walk out without washing their hands! The soap is free. The water is free. Use them!
- You Know. Like. Ummm. I cannot stand it when, umm, you know, ummm...people...like, ummm...just can't speak properly! Enough said.
- Impolite Cashiers. For some reason, our local Kroger store has hired every teenager in the neighborhood to be their cashiers...and, inevitably, they feel as though the registers are their local hangout. Nothing like being ignored by the gum-chewing cashier as she flirts with Bobby while she rings up my groceries. And, why are there six cashiers hanging out at this one register anyway? GET to work!
- Poor Drivers. Drivers in Texas have got to be the worst I have ever seen! They don't know what to do at a four-way stop sign...they don't use blinkers...and, they don't pull over when an ambulance is coming up from behind. Plus, as my husband always says...the person in front of you is never in a hurry, and the person behind you is always in a hurry. Definitely a no-win situation. Oh...I forgot to mention how they don't understand the concept of MERGE! Give these people some driving lessons already!
- Poor Parkers. I get really irked when I see the largest SUV in the parking lot, jammed into the smallest spot...crooked. Try again if you could not get it right the first time...better yet...go park elsewhere! There was one time I couldn't even get into my car because this HUGE SUV parked crooked and had its tires turned so much into my space, that I couldn't get the driver's side door opened enough for me to squeeze into it!
- Uncontrollable Children. If children cannot behave in public...leave them at home! I just cannot stand it when I see children running amuck through a store or in a restaurant...and, the parents not being parents and allowing for such behavior. The other day I was at the grocery store, and two young boys had a football. They were running through the grocery store, throwing the football and yelling, "TOUCHDOWN!" These were long throws...throws you would see during the last minute of a game when you are down by three points! Then, I noticed the parents laughing and saying, "Good one, Tommy!" *sigh*
- Cell Phones While Driving. Simple...hang up and drive!
Bonus Pet Peeve:
So, what is your "at the moment" pet peeve?

People in this house that sit their dirty dishes on the counter... right above the dishwasher! *Ack*
Rude people in general. Whether it's a cashier or waiter/waitress, or a parent of a misbehaving child, I am ticked off by them all.
We were in the library on Mon. President's Day. So of course there were lots of kids and moms. The moms were louder than the kids and the moms didn't settle their unruly children. My oldest was really ticked off by this and he is only 10!
Hey I responded to your comment on my blog. Go see.
((Trisha))
You know, like, um.... I hate it when Bobby the grocery bagger at Krogers puts my packages of raw hamburger, chicken and the like in with my raw veggies. Blech.
Oh, and I hate it when my MIL puts out her cigarette in my yard and leaves it there. Or, in her plate of food at a resturant. Double blech.
Just one? People who don't do what's right. Kinda sums up your whole post, doesn't it? If you KNOW the right thing to do, it takes less time to do it right than it does to do it again because you did it wrong!
Stop being selfish/lazy/stubborn/rebellious, etc...and just do what you know you should!
Idiots.
That pretty much covers all categories.
I'm in Texas and, from your name, I'm assuming you are too. And from your Texas drivers comment, you must live in Dallas. I've lived in Houston most of my life, and they are bad there but, no where NEAR as bad as Dallas! I absolutely HATE driving in Dallas-they are the worst ever!
However, I now live in San Antonio...here they actually yield so well that drivers actually come to a COMPLETE STOP when yielding to drivers exiting the freeway. Talk about culture shock! Really though, it's almost as bad as drivers who don't yield because if you're on the feeder, chances are someone up in front of you has come to a complete stop and traffic is backed up for half a mile. I don't think that is the real meaning of yield. It is nice when you are the one exiting, though! :)
I must tell you what is really going on with you... MENOPAUSE...it's your hormones! That’s why you are all cranky and irritable. Trust me...I know. I am just like you.
BTW...I travel a lot and everyone drives crazy in the US, not just Dallas. And San Antonio is the worst. They have nowhere to go in the ole cowtown, they are not yielding they are just slow! LOL!
So hang in there... the hormones mellow out... that’s what my mom says. But... it just gets worse! Just be kind and rember likely you are making a pausal woman crazy too!
I re-read your peeves, yes me too! MENOPAUSE!
Take care...green tea can help!
