My Top Eleven Reality Shows

I am not ashamed to admit that I enjoy watching television. Television entertains me. Television helps me get away from the stresses of my own life. Finally, television is simply interesting! My ReplayTV is GREAT because I rarely watch any television live! However...because of this, I think I watch even more television!

Originally I was going to share my top favorite television shows...but, after I started this blog entry...I realized I watch eleven reality shows! YIKES! LOL! With this said, I decided to share my top eleven reality television shows (in no particular order):

  1. The Amazing Race – I have been watching TAR since season one...and, have been hooked ever since! This season I am rooting for BJ and Tyler because...well...they are fun, and life should be fun! "I'm sorry, you both have been eliminated from The Amazing Race."
  2. The Apprentice – I also have been watching this show since season one. It captivates me, and also teaches me a thing or two. I even taped one episode that I share with my students. "You're Fired!"
  3. Project Runway – The reason I enjoy this show is because we get to see a lot of the castmate's creative process. It is fun to see how different each of the designers' fashions turn out, even though they all have the same challenge. "Auf Wiedersehen"
  4. Dog The Bounty Hunter – I came upon this show one night when I couldn't sleep...and, I have been hooked ever since! "Don't try this at home."
  5. Flip This House – The premise of the show is to take a house in ill repair, and flip it in about a week to make a profit! I love watching the transformations! "Don't go over budget."
  6. Top Chef – Watching a bunch of pompous and silly chefs create interesting original dishes fascinates me for some reason. "Return to the kitchen, and pack your knives."
  7. American Idol – If this isn't entertainment...I don't know what is!! My favorite this season is Chris. Chris rocks! "America has voted...and, you are out!"
  8. Starting Over – This is the first daytime reality show for women (this is what they claim, anyway). It is about six women that enter a house in search of reaching certain goals. Ranging from starting a new career, losing weight, or even searching for their birth father...Starting Over helps women start over. I have been watching since Season One...and, have enjoyed it ever since. "Live fearlessly."
  9. America's Next Top Model – I have no idea why I watch this show...in fact, I have been watching it since its first season (or cycle as they call them)! Perhaps I watch it because I am an artist...and, I love seeing the final photos from their photo shoots and the models being "fierce." Whether it is a photo of them hanging above an alley wearing super hero costumes...or posing with a tarantula...the final images are fun to see. "If the next name I call is not yours, you are to return to the loft and pack your bags."
  10. Survivor – A classic...one that I will probably watch until it is canceled (if it is ever canceled, that is). Can you believe they are on Season 12? Amazing! "The tribe has spoken."
  11. Blow Out – I just discovered this show when I was sick a couple of weeks ago. I'm hooked, and wish I had seen previous seasons. Who would think a television show about a hair salon owner (and an arrogant one at that) could entice me? "All I want to do is great hair."

So, do you enjoy reality shows? If not...don't knock it until you try it!

I haven't watched a single one of your picks, Trisha. Call me weird, but I just can't get into those shows. LOL!

But.....I am glad that there is something on that you enjoy watching!

I watch virtually no tv. The only reality show I watched was American Idol (the one where Ruben and Clay won...)

I do watch two shows - House, MD and Monk. And they are both on nicely in a row on Fridays on USA! ;-)

You don't watch any sports on TV? Sports was probably the first 'reality TV' ...well, and the TV news programs, too. (like the comic you chose)
