Peeking Inside my World
Look at your desk. What is on it? Did you know that the items you have on your desk tell a lot about who you are — a bit about your personality — a bit about your style.
I decided to let you take a peek at my desktop to learn a bit more about who I am...the REAL me...the me that you never see behind the computer screen. I took the photos in the spur of the moment so you can get a real sense of actually being here.
The Organized Desk
I decided to let you take a peek at my desktop to learn a bit more about who I am...the REAL me...the me that you never see behind the computer screen. I took the photos in the spur of the moment so you can get a real sense of actually being here.
The Organized Desk
You can tell from this image that I try to be organized.
- The red folder is used for my Digital Publishing class...on it is a label made with my label maker (an essential for any organizational freak). The label says, "ARTC1413 To Be Graded." These are papers I will be grading today! UGH! Note: Each of my classes have a different folder color.
- A notepad on my desk is helpful so I can jot down my lists, take notes, and doodle while on the phone.
- Sticky Notes on my computer screen are great daily, weekly or monthly reminders I feel, for some reason, need to be in my face at all times.
- Microsoft Excel Spreadsheets (shown on my screen), also help me stay organized. The image on the screen is actually my lesson plan I am updating for my Digital Publishing class.
- A pencil cup is a great way to have different items available at your fingertips...another essential for the organized. Not only does my pencil cup have highlighters, pens and pencils...you will also find my scissors, a nail file, a nail buffer, and my sunflower letter opener.
- Memo holders. I have two to help me be doubly organized. Placed here are appointment cards, receipts, and any small items I may need to file in my filing cabinet.
- Little ceramic teddy bear box. Definitely essential for any organized person. I place my rings in here when putting on lotion, or those tiny items I have to put away later.
- My wooden pen holder with my favorite scripture lasered onto it. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Phil. 4:13) This was a gift from my wonderful husband!
- My American Folk Art drink coaster. An organizational freak can't have rings on my desk, now can I?
- My cell phone. Not so much for oganization, but it's there so I thought I'd mention it! :)
In the photo above, you will see that I like to play, meditate, bind things together, and that I am getting old!
- ReplayTV remote. Essential for my television viewing since I rarely watch live TV.
- Boggle daily calendar. I love playing Boggle, so I was SO happy to get this calendar. Too bad I forget to change the date from time to time.
- "The Buzz" CD. Picked up the other day for only $0.39! Filled with new up-and-coming Christian artists from 2003! There is only one artist I have heard of today...and, that is Casting Crowns (my favorite!). I wonder if they're the only artist that did make it?
- 20 Questions Hand-Held Game. I received this fun gadget for Christmas from my daughter. The thing is almost always RIGHT and has guessed correctly nearly every thing I have tried to stump it with!! Freaks me out!
- My ceramic snowman "box." My husband surprised me before Christmas with this cute little guy. Inside is a small pewter heart that says "Romantic Dinner." He got me the romantic dinner for Valetine's Day.
- Yankee Home for the Holidays Sampler Candle. YUMMY!! Smells just like cinnamon! I haven't lit it yet...but, I enjoy picking it up and sniffing it for enjoyment.
- A wonderful scripture card set in a beautiful holder my husband got me for Christmas two years ago. Today's scripture is, "...His compassions never fail. They are new every morning..." (Lamentations 3:22.23 NIV)
- Two different note paper cubes! You can never have enough pieces of scrap paper!
- A binder clip and stapler. The organized need to bind things together!
- The world's largest pill organizer! This HUGE contraption, measured at 11w x 2T x 1.5D, holds the eleven different pills I take daily.
So, look at your desktop today. If the world were to take a peek at it, would it tell a bit about who you are, and what you enjoy? I am sure it will!

My desk is in an armoire, and is generally a complete mess. When I have company, I shut the doors. I sincerely hope that doesn't say a whole lot about my character, LOL!
Hmm... let's see... pictures of family, lil wooden angel, notepad, pen... digital camera, batteries, container of discs... envelopes (pull and seal because I hate to lick 'em), a hazelnut cream candle, and an empty caffeine free, diet Pepsi can. *Helpful?*
Hum. I have a little crock filled with pens and pencils, fingernail clippers, a cookbook, a stack of bills, a note from my husband reminding me to call in an Rx (he knows he has to write things down or I won't remember), my cellphone and a cup of cold coffee.
I think it says I'm a whole lot messy, forgetful and need to warm up my coffee.
Wow! That's quite a number of vitamns! Wish i were as organized as you. thanks for the comment on my blog!
